Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) is pleased to announce that Sandy Low, TCAPS’ Finance Manager has been awarded the Chief Financial Officer certification from the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO). The MSBO award recognizes members who have met requirements for certification under the MSBO Voluntary Certification Program. This award reflects a high degree of academic and professional preparation established by the MSBO Board of Directors through their Professional Development Committee.
“Sandy exemplifies professional, high caliber finance skills that have assisted TCAPS’ Business Office to be recognized by independent organizations such as, MSBO, Moody’s, and Standard and Poors, for excellence in the management of school resources. Sandy makes it a point to keep her professional skills honed and has also completed the rigorous standards set by MSBO to attain her CFO certification,” stated TCAPS’ Chief Financial Officer, Paul Soma. “She is a consummate professional who couples very strong technical skills with a friendly and helpful demeanor. She sets a positive example for others to follow and creates a service-oriented environment in TCAPS’ Business Office. It is an honor to work with her.”
Sandy has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Grand Valley State University. She was hired by TCAPS as Accounts Payable Clerk in 2001. She has since moved from that position to her current position as Finance Manger to TCAPS’ Business Office.
