Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Talented and Gifted Program (TAG), provides a learning community where each student is surrounded by a peer group of academically gifted learners throughout the day. This unique environment is one of the key elements identified as being essential to a successful gifted education program. TCAPS’ TAG program provides essential peer stimuli allowing children to learn and share their ideas as well as enhances their emotional growth.
TCAPS will administer the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT) for any current third grade student. Testing will take place on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Central Grade School, 301 West Seventh Street.
Students are screened for the program in the spring of their third grade year of school. Recommendations for admission to the program are based primarily on test scores, in addition to teacher and parent input. Students identified through the process are invited to attend a magnet school located at Central Grade School.
