On Wednesday, December 30th, two former TC West Senior High School students will be featured performers at A Musical Kaleidoscope, a benefit concert for the Munson Healthcare Women’s Cancer Fund.Amy Baumann and Khaki Pixley will perform classical, Broadway, standards, and cabaret style vocal selections. Guest performers will include Steve Holden-Corbett, Anderson Nunnelley, and Traverse City West Senior High School students of the arts.The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the TC West Senior High School Auditorium, 5376 N. Long Lake Road.
Amy Baumann is a 2004 graduated of Traverse City West Senior High School. During her high school career she was finalist for three consecutive years in the Verdi Italian Songs and Arias Vocal Competitions where she took first place in 2002 and third place in 2004. While at TC West Senior High School she performed as Zora in Ruddigore, Fantine in Les Misérables, and Anita in West Side Story. Amy is a graduate from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, New York.
Khaki Pixley is a 2004 graduate from Traverse City West Senior High School. She was a Verdi Italian Songs and Aria finalist, and competed in the International Thespian Festival. While at TC West Senior High School she was cast as Dame Hannah in Ruddigore, Eponine in Les Misérables, and Anita in West Side Story. Khaki is a 2008 graduate of The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois.
“I am beyond excited with the direction A Musical Kaleidoscope has taken,” commented Khaki Pixley. “It is an amazing feeling knowing that we have such strong ties to a community that exhibits such a passion for helping others.”
Khaki and Amy, with assistance from their families, have organized this benefit concert as a way to give back to the community that supported and encouraged them while they developed their musical talents in Traverse City and at TC West Senior High School.
The cost for tickets is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 6:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Women’s Cancer Fund, part of the Munson Medical Center Healthcare Cancer Service.
