On Wednesday, December 16th, and Friday, December 18th, students from Traverse Heights Elementary School will be recognized for their outstanding efforts throughout the first trimester. Kindergarten through second grade students will be recognized on Wednesday, December 16th, and students in third through fifth grade will be recognized on Friday, December 18th. Ceremonies are scheduled from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Traverse Heights Elementary Gymnasium, 933 Rose Street.
Traverse Heights families and community members are invited to attend this special event. The United States Coast Guard will also be present to celebrate the students’ outstanding accomplishments. In October, the United States Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City selected Traverse Heights Elementary School as an "Adopt-A-School" and US Coast Guard volunteers have been working with groups of students as recess buddies to promote physical fitness, cooperation, and respect. In addition, US Coast Guard members participate in school-wide recognition lunches and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
