Traverse City High School is accepting donations to help stock the school’s food pantry. The food pantry was created last year by students from Traverse City High School’s mentor group. The food pantry is available for students at Traverse City High School who may need assistance from time to time. The mentor group’s goal is to keep the pantry stocked with enough food and toiletries for students to take home when they experience a need.
Traverse City High School’s student population of approximately 150 students currently includes 45 students who are considered in transition or homeless. Childcare is provided for students with children to ensure all students have the opportunity to attend school and earn a high school diploma.
The food pantry was created to ensure each student, regardless of their residential status, has the food and daily products they need everyday for themselves and their child. Items needed include:
- Canned goods
- Perishables
- Baby food
- Personal items
- Paper products
Donations can be dropped off at the Traverse City High School Main Office, 3962 Three Mile Road North. Please call Language Arts Teacher Mary Preston at 933-5874 for more information.
