Michigan History Day is one of the many educational programs sponsored by the Historical Society of Michigan, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of and appreciation for Michigan history. History Day is an effort to encourage young people to understand and appreciate history by entering their projects in a nationwide competition.
On Saturday, February 20th, Traverse City East Middle School will host Michigan History Day District 3 Competition. Setup will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the TC East Middle School Cafeteria, 1776 Three Mile Road North. Judging will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the winners announced by 1:00 p.m.
Finalists on February 20th will advance to a statewide competition on Saturday, April 24,2010. Finalists from Michigan will then go to National History Day in College Park, Maryland, where they will compete against students from the other 49 states, the District of Columbia and several of the territories.
