Traverse City Central High School made school and state history at the University of Michigan National Debate Tournament. Both Novice Debate teams broke out of preliminary rounds and made it to final rounds after competing with teams from all over the country. This was the first time any Traverse City debate team has broken into the out-rounds of a national tournament. It is also the first time in several years that the Novice Finals at this tournament involved two schools from Michigan. The University of Michigan National Debate Tournament took place November 6 – 8 on the University of Michigan Campus in Ann Arbor.
TC Central High School Debate Final Standings:
- Daniel Fedor and Mike Payne Novice Octafinalists
- Katie Stanton and Kevin Query Novice Finalists
*National Tournament of Champions Qualifiers
- Katie Stanton Ninth Place Novice Speaker Award
