Traverse City West Senior High School will hold Academic Awards Ceremonies in honor of sophomores, juniors, and seniors that achieved a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher during the 2008-2009 school year. The academic award is determined by the average GPA of the three trimesters, not the cumulative GPA that is reflected on report cards and transcripts. Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the school auditorium, 5376 North Long Lake Road, on the following dates:
- Juniors and Seniors Friday, October 2, 2009
- Sophomores Friday, October 9, 2009
Students who earn a 3.5 or higher GPA are eligible to receive an academic letter the first year, a bronze pin for the second year, a silver pin for the third year, and a gold pin at Honors Convocation in the spring of their senior year. Academic Letter recipients, Bronze Pin recipients, and Silver Pin recipients will be recognized at the ceremony.
Parents, family, and friends are encouraged to attend to celebrate the students’ achievements. A welcome reception for guests and students will be held in the Commons Area at 9:30 a.m., prior to each ceremony.
