Traverse City Central High School is pleased to announce it will host the Traverse City Debate League (TCDL) competition this year. Debate teams from Traverse City Central High School and Traverse City West Senior High School will compete against teams from Cadillac, East Jordan, Elk Rapids, Gaylord, Inland Lakes, McBain, and Petoskey. Each two-person team will debate two rounds per night. There are over 30 debates in each round.
This year’s national policy debate topic is: “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase social services to persons living in poverty in the United States.”
All competitions will be held in classrooms simultaneously at TC Central High School, 1150 Milliken Drive. The Tabulation Room will be in the TC Central High School Library to allow visitors to check the debate team schedule. The first round of debates are scheduled from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the second round from 5:15 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. on the following dates:
- October 28, 2009
- November 4, 2009
- November 11, 2009
- November 18, 2009
Family and community members are encouraged to attend. Admission is free. Please call
