Traverse City Area Public Schools was recently recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for its communications efforts. Traverse City Area Public Schools received 2009 NSPRA awards in the following categories:

« Award of Merit – TCAPS’ Making a Difference Video
« Award of Merit – TCAPS’ Branding/Image
« Award of Merit – TCAPS’ I am in Kindergarten and I am Terrific Video
« Award of Honorable Mention – E-Newsletter
« Award of Honorable Mention – Weekly Links in the News
« Award of Honorable Mention – District Goals and Strategies Web Pages
« Award of Honorable Mention – School Welcome Video
« Award of Honorable Mention – E-Valentine Video Greetings featuring TC Central High School Choral Aires

There were 955 entries in this year’s national contest. In the audio/visual portion, there were 165 entries. TCAPS was among the top 20-30 school districts that received Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit, and Awards of Honorable Mention.

The Award of Excellence for TCAPS’ Did You Know Video was on display in the Publications Exchange Center at the NSPRA National Seminar in San Francisco, California, from June 28th – July 1st.

“At TCAPS our top communications priority is to increase support and engagement among students, staff, parents, and the community in support of student achievement,” remarked Alison Arnold, TCAPS’ Director of Communications. “These awards recognize the collective efforts, expertise, and teamwork among TCAPS’ Printing, Graphics, and Communications Departments. Moreover, we learn about ways we can improve communications through the feedback and benchmark comparisons we receive from contest adjudicators.”

The National School Public Relations Association is committed to advancing the cause of education through responsible communications. The NSPRA contest is held to promote quality and recognize excellence in professional school communications and recognizes outstanding education publications and electronic media projects.
