Traverse Heights Elementary School has been awarded $15,000 by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s (BCBSM) Social Mission Grant to provide fitness equipment, healthy snacks for students, and wellness education through the curriculum. Traverse Heights Elementary School would like to improve student achievement through physical fitness and helping children to learn healthy choices.
“We are very excited to be the recipient of this grant award. I appreciate the dedication of the staff members who took their time to put together a comprehensive grant that will provide our students and staff the opportunity to engage in healthy practices,” commented Traverse Heights Elementary School Principal Jennifer Ziecina. “Not only will we be able to instruct our students on eating healthy by providing a variety of cooking and tasting experiences, but we can offer them some new physical fitness equipment to exercise with.”
