Traverse City West Senior High School Senior Sierra Breithaupt signed a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent with Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) to play basketball next year. Sierra will receive a full scholarship at GRCC. Sierra is the daughter of Michael and Michele Breithaupt.
Sierra earned three varsity basketball letters at TC West Senior High School, she also earned All Big North Conference honors during her junior season before sustaining what would have been a season-ending knee injury but Sierra recovered just after five months of rehabilitation. TC West Senior High School was able to capture a district basketball title after Sierra’s return.
“Sierra is possibly the most athletic player I have ever coached and certainly one of the best defensive players,” said TC West Senior High School Coach Patti Tibaldi. “Her strength and leaping ability should stand her in good stead during her college career. She has the potential to be very successful at the next level if she continues to work hard. GRCC has a proven record of success and has sent many players on to outstanding universities upon completion of their two years. We wish Sierra all the best as she continues her academic and athletic career at the college level.”
