Traverse City West Senior High School Student Tori Lockwood has been selected to represent TC West Senior High School as the Detroit Free Press Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award is given to one senior a year who best represents combined academic and athletic excellence. Tori carries a 3.6 grade point average, scored a 30 on her American College Testing (ACT), and will attend Wellesley College in Massachusetts next fall to study physics and play softball.
Athletically, Tori was first team All-State, All-Region and Dream Team selection for four consecutive years. She was also Dream Team Captain for one year, a member of two State Championship teams, State Slalom Champion in 2009, Big North Conference Individual Overall Champion for three years, Varsity Softball letter winner for two years, and the Varsity softball captain for one year.
“Tori is the epitome of the student-athlete,” says TC West Senior High School Athletic Director Patti Tibaldi. “She is a competitor who strives to do her best at all times, both in academics and athletics. She has represented TC West Senior High School with character and class and I am certain she will continue to do the same at Wellesley College. We wish her all the best and congratulate her on this very deserving honor.”
