On Wednesday, June 3rd, students from Old Mission Peninsula School will celebrate the success of obtaining a reading challenge. Each student who met their reading challenge will tap into the glitz and glamour of star-struck Hollywood and be presented with a metal “Oscar” statue similar to the statue that is presented to winners of Academy Awards. The “Oscar” statue will be presented to students on the Red Carpet by Young Elvis (Jake Slater) who will also perform at the celebration.
Jake Slater has been featured in the 2009 May issue of Traverse Magazine and has performed for many audiences throughout northern Michigan.
