Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Transportation Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the Northwestern Michigan Fair, August 3rd through August 9th.
Volunteers are needed to work the main entry, grandstand, ticket booths, the campground gate, and to sell pit passes. By working at the fair grounds TCAPS’ Transportation Department will earn between $5,000-$5,500. Funds raised will be used for TCAPS’ Transportation Humanitarian Fund.
The TCAPS Transportation Humanitarian Fund was founded in May 2005 to help TCAPS employees and their families who experience hardships due to major illnesses or catastrophic events and may need assistance with medical expenses and/or insurance costs, funeral expenses, emergency house payments, lodging, and travel expenses. As of June 5, 2008 the Humanitarian Fund has donated $12,167.93 to this worthy cause.
