On April 18, 2008, Eastern Elementary School will be closed due to an unusual incidence of student and staff illness this week related to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In consultation with the Grand Traverse County Health Department, it is most likely a virus referred to as a Norovirus. This is a group of viruses that cause the “stomach flu” or gastroenteritis.
Eastern Elementary Schools custodial staff will thoroughly clean the building on April 18th, and throughout the weekend. Classes will resume on Monday, April 21, 2008.
