Six Odyssey of the Mind teams from Traverse City Area Public Schools have advanced to the State Odyssey of the Mind Competition to be held on April 19, 2008 at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan. The teams include one Westwoods Elementary School team, two Central Grade School teams, two Traverse City West Junior High School teams, and one Traverse City West Senior High School team.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international education program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the United States and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
