On Thursday, November 2, 2006 Traverse Heights Elementary School will host a Cultural Supper Series in honor of Native American Month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Sabin Elementary School Cafeteria. The evening will feature a presentation of Chippewa and Ottawa culture and history by Community Elder Mr. John Bailey; education and lessons in the Odawa language; native drumming and dancing; displays of regalia, beading, and artwork; and traditional food for everyone to enjoy. All Traverse Heights Elementary School’s neighbors, students, families, staff, and friends are invited to attend this free event.

For the last three years, Traverse Heights Elementary School has celebrated the many cultures represented within the school community. These events provide an opportunity for students, families, and staff to learn more about one another as well as the Native American culture in the region.
