On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, Cherry Knoll Elementary School will hold their 2008 Non-Fiction Learning Fair in the school gymnasium from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Preschool through sixth grade will participate in the fair.
Nation-wide, students show the need for improvement in comprehending informational (non-fiction) text. The Non-Fiction Learning Fair is a great way to challenge students to read and comprehend non-fiction material while learning that non-fiction reading can be just as enjoyable as fiction.
Students have selected a topic of interest, read (or were read to) a book or article relating to the topic, and are currently creating a project that describes what they learned about the topic. Students are involved in activities such as designing science experiments, making dioramas, finishing models, displaying collections, trying recipes, making posters, and writing booklets.
Family and friends of Cherry Knoll students are invited to attend the Non-Fiction Learning Fair. Please check in at the office when you arrive.
Please contact Cherry Knoll Elementary School Principal Linda Barker at 933-8940 for more information.
