Over 1,800 middle and high school students from schools throughout Michigan auditioned for the All-State Band and Orchestras on November 3-4, 2007. Competitions were held in Traverse City this year at Traverse City West Senior High School. Students from around the state came together to compete, demonstrate their skills, and vie for the opportunity to perform with other talented students in the All-State Band or All-State Orchestra. Students selected to perform on the All-State Band or Orchestra are recognized as the best in the state of Michigan.

Six students from Traverse City Area Public Schools have received the well-deserved honor of being selected to perform as part of the All-State Band or Orchestra at the DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 26, 2008. The students that were selected to participate in the All-State Band are Aneka Saxon, Aaron Kelly, and Alex Gusler from Traverse City West Senior High School and eighth grader, Chris Cooke, from Traverse City East Junior High School. Olivia Casciano and Andrew Maxbauer from Traverse City West Senior High School were selected to participate in the All-State Orchestra.
