Thanks to the generous donation from employees at AT&T Michigan, there will be more books available to secondary students at Traverse City Area Public Schools. With the donation, TCAPS’ Language Arts department has been able to purchase 100 copies of To Kill a Mockingbird and 30 copies of Lord of the Flies to be added to existing collections. With the new Michigan Merit Curriculum, all students within a given grade level will be experiencing the same books during the school year which will require a larger quantity of assigned books.
On Wednesday, December 12, 2008, Terry Taylor, Collocation Project Manager of AT&T Michigan, along with four other AT&T staff members will officially present the books to Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Language Arts department at 1:00 p.m. in the Traverse City Central High School Library. Taylor was responsible for coordinating the donation collection efforts at AT&T.
