Norris Elementary School’s fifth and sixth grade Peace Mentors have unanimously accepted the challenge to help fellow members of the community who may experience difficult times during the long and cold winter months by taking part in the “Sock It To Us” campaign. This is a community service project, which will provide socks in the food baskets distributed to community families during the holiday and winter season. The Peace Mentors have selected the Goodwill Inn as a home for all of the socks they collect.
Peace Mentors will be collecting socks from Wednesday, November 13th, through Friday, November 30th. All socks donated must be new, and may be any size, color, design, and style. Donated socks may be dropped off in the school library.
Through this community outreach opportunity, students learn the importance of helping others and demonstrates the true spirit of caring by allowing students to give something back to their community and to brighten the holidays for others. Last year, the Peace Makers collected 420 pairs of socks for this worthy cause. Helping others warms our hearts…help us warm their feet!
