Traverse City Area Public Schools extends an opportunity for all area students who are not enrolled in a TCAPS school to take part in tests that will be conducted during the month of October. Testing information, dates, and fees are as follows:

PLAN (Practice ACT):

The PLAN® program helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years. PLAN can help all students—those who are college-bound as well as those who are likely to enter the workforce directly after high school. As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a powerful predictor of success on the ACT. Typically, PLAN is administered in the fall of the sophomore year.

Fee:                 $25.00 for non-TCAPS students (cash or check made out to TCAPS).

Includes administration and counseling appointment if desired.

Register by September 27, 2006.

Test date:             October 4, 2006 at 8:50 a.m.

Location:             Traverse City Central High School, 1150 Milliken Drive

Contact:             Rebecca Romine, 933-3570

PSAT (Pre-SAT):

The PSAT is the best preparation for the SAT Reasoning Test that students take for college admissions in their junior and/or senior year. It is also the route of entry into the National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs. The PSAT provides valuable feedback to the student regarding academic skills and suggested steps to improve them. Students also receive free access to "MyRoad" an on line career and college exploration tool to chart their path to college and beyond.

Fee:                 $ 25.00 for non-TCAPS students (cash or check made out to TCAPS).

Registration is open from October 2nd through October 13th, 2006.

Test Date:            October 21, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Location:             Traverse City Central High School Cafeteria, 1150 Milliken Drive.
