Traverse City Area Public Schools has received the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for excellence in the preparation and issuance of the fiscal year-end 2006 financial statements. 

The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Program was designed by ASBO International in order to recognize districts that have met high standards of financial reporting.  The award, the highest recognition offered by ASBO for school district financial operations, is only awarded to school systems that have met or exceeded the standards of the program.

Achieving this award validates the credibility of TCAPS’ financial reporting, demonstrates the integrity and technical competence of the business staff, and strengthens its presentations for bond rating agencies and others who independently analyze the district’s operations.

“This award is a tremendous accomplishment for our school system and helps show our commitment to the highest standards of financial integrity.  This award also reflects the tremendous talents and dedication of the Business Office staff,” remarked Paul Soma, TCAPS’ Chief Financial Officer.
