Dylan Krause and Makayla Larke from Cherry Knoll Elementary School and Jame’ Frost and Lindsay Wright from Interlochen Community School were recognized at the June 11, 2007, TCAPS Board of Education meeting for their achievement in the Michigan READ 180 program this year. Each student received an Honorable Mention - Michigan READ 180 All-Star Award.

The students were nominated by their teachers for their achievement in reading and writing during the 2006-2007 school year. READ 180 is a research-based program that has been proven effective in raising reading achievement.  The program started at Traverse City High School in 2005 and has since spread throughout TCAPS to include all five secondary schools and five elementary schools with plans for a sixth next year.
