The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) has ranked Traverse City West Senior High School’s girls’ basketball team  “grade point average” (GPA) as third in the state in team GPA in Class A for the 2006-2007 school year. The rankings were released in the May BCAM newsletter.

The team grade point average (GPA) is computed at the conclusion of the first semester of the school year and is cumulative. All members of the team must be included.  TC West’s team registered a 3.7075 on a 4.0 scale, just missing the top spot that went to Midland High School at a 3.7357.  Novi High School finished second with a 3.7084. 

“I am extremely proud of the academic efforts of our team,” says Head Coach and Athletic Director Patti Tibaldi.  “To have a squad of fourteen girls all achieving excellence in the classroom while competing at the Class A level is a real credit to their diligence and focus.  I am proud to say that TC West has qualified for recognition every year since the inception of the award.  I hope this tradition continues.”
