Glenn Loomis Elementary School will spend the month of May celebrating Michigan. The theme for the month is “Michigan, Read All About It.” On Monday, April 30, 2007 the school will kick off its celebration with the Michigan Folktales Program at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the school library.
The Michigan Folktales Program focuses on Michigan only will a collection of stories and folktales about the peoples and places of the great state in which we live. Native American legends and folktales will be told. Paul Bunyan and lumberjack tales, stories, and folktales from the Upper Peninsula, tales of the early French voyagers and fur traders along with lighthouse legends will be told in a mesmerizing Michigan yarn.
The library staff will share Michigan stories, facts, trivia, and videos will be with students during the May celebration and will also display pictures of students doing the things they love in our great outdoors.
