Sixth grader Shelby Razzone won first place in the Central Grade School All-School Geography Bee held January 10, 2007 at Lars Hockstad Auditorium. The All School Bee was the first round in the 19th Annual National Geographic Bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Nick Murphy, a fifth grade student, took second place in the competition. Other classroom finalists included Luke Piotrowski, Nonie Tompkins, Morgan Harris, Olivia Luciani, Stephen Perrin, Blake Beyer, Maddie Chung, Macy Schwert, and Annalisa Wiesner. All fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students competed in classroom Geography Bees to determine their class representative for the All-School Geography Bee.
As the winner, Shelby will advance to the next level of the National Geography Bee competition by completing a written examination. If she scores into the top 100 students, she will be invited to the Central Michigan University campus to compete in the state level of the Geography Bee.
