Middle School Students

Traverse City East Middle School Bands to Host Benefit Concert 
for the Father Fred Foundation

On Thursday, November 19th, the Traverse City East Middle School Jazz Band and Symphony Band will host a benefit concert with special guests the Bay Area Big Band Combo, featuring Chris Bickley, Steve Stargardt on piano, Jack Dryden on bass, and Jon Lindenau on drums. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the TC East Middle School Performance Hall, 1776 Three Mile Road North and will feature swing, blues, bossa nova, and much more.
 
Donations will be accepted in lieu of a set ticket price. All donations will benefit the Father Fred Foundation. Suggested donations include personal care items. There is also a special need for diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6. The TC East Middle School Bands will deliver all items donated to the Father Fred Pantry on Tuesday, November 24th.

TC West Middle School to Hold Senior Citizen Social
On Tuesday, December 1st, Traverse City West Middle School will host a Senior Citizen Social. This event will provide area senior citizens to enjoy a fun night out and interact with TC West Middle School students. Highlights of the evening include:

  • Dancing
  • Door Prizes
  • Food
  • Musical Performances
Admission is free. The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the TC West Middle School Cafeterias, 3950 Silver Lake Road. Please contact Carrie Robbins at 933-7900 for more information.

New World Language Opportunities for the 2009-2010 School Year
Middle school students have more full-year foreign language course options for the 2009-2010 school year. Full-year courses are available in French, German, Spanish, and Chinese (online course). High school credit will be earned with successful completion of a full-year foreign language course.

For those students who may not want to take the full-year course but would still like to experience a foreign language, semester course options are available in French, German, and Spanish.

 

Eighth Grade Students Can Earn High School Graduation Credits 
As part of their regular course work, all TCAPS 8th grade students can earn one high school credit in the following subjects: math, science, and foreign language. Up to three credits can be earned when students pass designated tests in these content areas.
