High School Students Invited to College Night
Tuesday, October 12, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
College Night takes place at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy, located in the Hagerty Center, 715 Front Street, and attracts over 1,000 area students and parents from 50 surrounding high schools. High school students will have the opportunity to meet directly with representatives from over 60 colleges. Please contact your school counselor for more information.
Central High School to Have New Principal in 2010-2011
Rick Vandermolen has accepted the position of Central High School Principal starting in the 2010-2011 school year. Rick has served as assistant principal at Central High School since 2007. He also served as principal at Westwoods Elementary School from 2002-2007 and prior to that held various positions with Otsego Public Schools including elementary principal, middle school assistant principal, and athletic director.
About the Freshman Mentoring Program
Peer mentoring programs for freshman students entering Central High School and West Senior High School are designed to ease the transition for incoming students during their first year in high school by helping students feel safe and comfortable in their new environment and to ensure successful academic achievement. The mentoring program offers new students the opportunity to build relationships with older students who can share their experiences and advice on settling in to a new learning environment.
Student mentors receive training prior to meeting with their mentees. Students begin meeting with their mentors at the start of the school year. For more information about the Peer Mentoring Program at your school, please contact:
