Japanese Exchange Students
Traverse City Area Public Schools recently hosted 10 Japanese students from Koka City, Japan as part of the Sister City student Exchange Program. 5 students attended East Middle School and 5 attended West Middle School. The students arrived Friday, January 8 and stayed with their host families until Friday, January 15. They were accompanied by 3 chaperones. The Japanese students attended morning classes with their host families and then visited different Traverse City attractions during the afternoon (Dennos Museum, Coast Guard Station, Front Street, TC Library and some TCAPS elementary schools).
The Japanese students quickly became part of the TCAPS families and were greeted daily by many students eager to build new friendships. The week was filled with many smiles, much laughter and some heartfelt, goodbye tears.
