Students in Transition Empowerment Program - STEP
DID YOU KNOW that since 1987, a federal law (the McKinney-Vento Act) has required school districts to help children who lack “fixed, regular, and adequate overnight housing” enroll and be successful in school??? Students in Pre-K –grade 12 who may be moving frequently and/or temporarily living in shelters, motels, campgrounds, cars, or with family and friends, due to economic hardship, are eligible for assistance through the Students In Transition Empowerment Program (STEP). Talk with your School Secretary or contact your District Liaison, Joanie Abbott, at 933.8991 to find out how STEP can help your child maintain consistent school attendance while your family is in residential transition.
BATA Reduced Fare Program
