The mission of Traverse City Central High School, a nurturing community of learners, is to ensure that all young adults become responsible, productive, self-expressive individuals able to achieve their full potential, through a safe, learner-centered cooperative partnership that celebrates diversity, creativity, and excellence.Traverse City Central High School is a comprehensive learning community comprised of approximately 1,600 students in grades 9 - 12. Students at Central High School excel in all areas academically, in fine arts, in athletics, and as model citizens serving the community in which they live. Students at Central High School excel in advanced placement courses and dual enrollment with neighboring Northwestern Michigan College. Students are provided support to ensure their success at high school. Our goal is to graduate well-rounded students who are capable of pursuing goals in technical fields or advanced education through college and university level courses.

Want to let someone know you care this Valentine’s Day? Then stop by the cafeteria this week, Tuesday through Thursday, and order a bag of candy from the Key Club for just $1.00. Don’t let that special someone go unnoticed this Valentine’s Day!
 
Student Senate will be selling Valentine’s Day carnations for $1.00 each or five for $4.00 during both lunches through Tuesday, February 9th. They will be delivered to your Valentine during first hour on Friday, February 12th.
 
Book Club Central will meet next Thursday, February 18th to discuss When the Emperor was Divine by Julie Otsuka. If you haven’t checked out your copy yet, stop down in the library today! Limited copies are available in print and audio. All students and staff are welcome.
 
The Student Writers Group meets again on Tuesday, February 16th at 5:30 p.m. in the LMC. Don’t forget to bring a piece of work to share!

Counselors are currently meeting with each student to review their course requests for the 2010-11 school year.  A parent signature should be on the top of the student's course request form.  If the signature is not there, the counselor will proceed to put together appropriate course requests.  Parents, if you did not sign the form and have questions/concerns about your student's requests, please contact the appropriate counselor.
 
Counselors will meet with each grade as follows:
 
9th into 10th - Jan. 18 - 29.
10th into 11th - Feb. 1 - 12.
11th into 12th - Feb. 16 - 25.
8th into 9th - April 6 - 16
